Large Print Edition · Accessibility
Cantos makes your whole finished book again in Magnificent, the design we built for large print: a 14 point body, generous line spacing, and the roomy trim sizes that carry it. The contents page is re-baked for the new page numbers and the cover is rebuilt for the new spine. $99.99 per book, once your book is finished.
Start My Book FreeThis one comes after your book exists: Cantos builds your first edition free, you read the whole finished thing, and the large print edition is a card on your project page afterwards.
Your book is never used to train AI. Ever.
The estimates come from real books rendered at real sizes, and your own card shows the number for your own manuscript. Large print on a small page balloons the page count and the print cost, so the small trims are left out rather than sold to you.

Why It Matters
Accessibility is not a checkbox to us. A reader with low vision should get your book, set properly, in a size they can read.
Low vision, an eye condition, or simply eyes that are tired at the end of a long day. Type that is too small is the reason a great many books get closed at chapter two and never opened again.
Libraries, senior communities and accessibility catalogues buy large print editions specifically, and most self-published titles have none for them to buy.
It is the same book, so there is nothing to rewrite, re-edit or re-proof. It is your finished book set again, which is the cheapest second edition there is.
What It Actually Is
Magnificent is one of our sixteen designs, built for this job: the type, the leading, the margins and the running heads are all set for large print rather than scaled up from a normal book. Cantos re-typesets your finished book in it from the top.
The ISBN
We will say so, and then we will not require it.
It goes on the copyright page and into the barcode on the cover, and the edition is a proper, separately identifiable product from the day it is printed. An ISBN-10 is converted to 13 for you.
The copyright page simply leaves the line off and the cover carries no barcode. You can add the number later, and eBook retailers do not require one at all.
A number that fails its check digit, or a stand-in like a bracketed placeholder, is left off rather than printed wrong. A wrong ISBN in a printed book is worse than no ISBN.
The Price
The whole book set again in Magnificent at the trim you choose, with its own print-ready PDF, ePub and editable Word master, plus the matching cover rebuilt for the new spine.
It is a post-layout add-on. It appears on your finish page and your project page beside Language editions, once your interior is finished and released. It is never in the cart and never sold against a book that does not exist yet.
It takes long enough that you should go and do something else. Cantos emails you, in your own language, when the edition is ready.
If a build fails, the purchase stands and you start it again from the card at no extra charge. Refunds follow our usual policy, in the Terms; a full refund withholds the large print edition and leaves your original book exactly where it is.
Being Straight With You
The large print edition is its own edition with its own files. Your original book, its cover and its files stay exactly as they were.
It is the same book in the same language, so the Marketing & Premiere Kit you already own describes it perfectly well. We are not going to sell you the same copy twice.
Not the text, not the cover copy, not the title unless you change it yourself. Publishing the book in another language is a different product, and it is over here.
And it is only offered at three trim sizes. Large print at 5x8 makes a very thick, very expensive paperback, and we would rather leave the size out than sell you a book nobody wants to hold.
One App, The Whole Book
Your project keeps them all together, and each one is built from the finished book rather than from scratch.
Why We Built This
Magnificent exists in our design list because accessibility is not a checkbox to us. But a design only helps the author who picks it at the start, and almost nobody does: you choose the design for the edition you are picturing, and the large print reader is not in that picture.
So the honest answer was to make it something you can do afterwards, to a book that already exists, without redoing any of the work. Your corrections ride in. Your cover comes with it. Nothing about your first edition moves.
It is one of the cheapest good things an author can do for a reader, and it is the kind of edition a library can actually buy.

Before You Start
The body is set at 14 point, with generous line spacing to match. That is the design's own setting, not a scaling of a normal book, so the margins, the running heads and the chapter openings are all drawn for type that size.
More than your first edition, and the card tells you how many before you buy. The estimates are measured from real books rendered at real sizes: a 70,000 word book comes out around 396 pages at 6x9, 313 at 7x10 and 246 at 8.5x11. Your own card shows the number for your own manuscript.
Because large type on a small page balloons the page count, and the page count is what you pay the printer for. A large print novel at 5x8 becomes a very thick, very expensive paperback that is awkward to hold, so we leave the size out rather than sell it to you.
Yes, all of them. The edition is built from your finished book rather than from the manuscript you first uploaded, so every revision you have made is already in it.
One click, and it is the same cover: the same artwork and the same words, with the wrap and the spine rebuilt for the new trim and the new page count. Nothing is translated and nothing is redesigned, because it is the same book.
A separate print edition wants its own ISBN, and we will say so, but we will not require it. Leave the field blank and the copyright page leaves the line off; you can add the number later.
No. The large print edition is its own edition with its own files, and your original book, its cover and its downloads stay exactly as they are.
Once your interior is finished and released. It is a card on your finish page and your project page, beside Language editions. It is never part of the first checkout, because it is made from the finished book.
Your purchase stands and you start it again from the same card at no extra charge. You are never charged twice for one edition.
Build your book free, read the whole finished thing, and add the large print edition whenever you are ready.
