What Arrives
Not a translated text file. A finished book, made the way the first one was made, ready to upload to the same printers.
The whole book, typeset in the design and trim size you already chose, in the new language’s own typographic conventions. Print-ready PDF, ePub, and the editable Word master, exactly as the first edition delivered them.
Your same artwork, with the title, subtitle, author name, spine and back-cover copy set in the new language, the spine re-sized to the edition’s own page count, and a barcode from the ISBN you supply. The eBook front cover comes with it.
If your project includes the Marketing and Premiere Kit, the edition gets its own: descriptions, keywords, categories and the launch plan written in the new language, for readers who shop in it.
And the side-by-side bilingual review document, so none of this has to be taken on faith.
Four Languages, Your Dialect
English, Spanish, French and German, in any direction among the four. A Spanish novel can have an English edition; an English business book can have all three of the others.
How It Works
Cantos reads the complete book before it translates a word of it: it locks a glossary of your names and terms, builds a voice map for each character, and decides how your idioms and cultural references should land for the new reader. Then it sets the book. That is why an edition takes a while, and it is why names stay consistent to the last chapter.
Before You Buy
The Language editions card has a Free sample first button. Cantos reads your whole book, translates its opening, and hands it back watermarked, at no charge and with nothing to cancel. You are judging your own sentences in the new language, not a demo written by us. If it does not read the way your book reads, you have lost nothing.
The Price
Once, per book. The translated interior in your same design (print-ready PDF, ePub and the editable Word master), the bilingual review document, the matching cover, and the kit in the new language when your project includes one. Add a second language later at the same price, or never.
Your book itself is pay after value. Cantos builds the whole interior free and shows you a watermarked, full-resolution proof copy; payment releases the clean files. A language edition is an add-on you buy afterwards, from the finished book’s own page, once you have seen what the first edition looks like.
Refunds: a flat 50% within 14 days, self-service, on every purchase; a full refund withholds the files it paid for. The whole policy is in our Terms.
Being Straight With You
The whole book is read first, and the glossary, the register and the voice map are locked before any of it is set. That is slower, and it is the reason a name in chapter one is still that name in chapter forty, and that a joke still lands.
We hand you the bilingual review document precisely so you can check us. If you have a native reader, give it to them. Nothing about a translation should have to be believed on the strength of a sales page.
English, Spanish, French and German are what we do today, and we would rather do four properly than twelve badly. Portuguese and Italian are on our roadmap. We will not promise you a date.
One App, The Whole Book
A language edition is one part of the same project. The interior, the cover, the copy editing and the kit are all here, and each of them works on the new edition the way it worked on the first.
Why We Built This
An author in Belgium wrote one morning to ask whether we spoke French. We did not, yet. By the end of that day the whole product did, because the honest answer to a reader who cannot read your book is not a shrug.
Translation has always been priced for publishing houses rather than for authors: thousands of dollars and months of calendar, for one language, before anybody knows whether the book sells there. So good books sit in one language while the readers who would have loved them never meet them.
We built it into the same project as the book instead. Your finished interior goes in, a finished edition comes out, and the bilingual review document comes with it so you never have to take our word for a single paragraph. Your words stay yours. We claim no copyright on your book and we never use your manuscript to train AI.

Before You Start
English, Spanish, French and German, in any direction among the four. A book written in German can have an English edition; a book written in English can have all three of the others. You also choose the dialect: Spanish for Mexico and Latin America, for Spain, or neutral Latin American; French in its standard European form or in Cajun French, the heritage voice of French Louisiana; German for Germany, Austria, or Swiss Standard German. Portuguese and Italian are on our roadmap, and we will not give you a date we cannot keep.
Your finished book. The edition is made from the interior you approved and released, which means every correction you made on Revise, every design answer you gave, and every fix that went in after the first build rides into the new language. Nothing is translated from the file you first uploaded.
They make the journey. Pictures, tables, real footnotes and text boxes are carried through and the text inside them is translated in place. Cantos counts them on both sides and will not deliver an edition that lost one.
Yes, in one click on the delivered edition. It is your same artwork with the text set in the new language and the spine re-sized to the edition's own page count, in print-ready files for your printer, plus the eBook front cover. If your project includes the Marketing and Premiere Kit, that is rewritten for the new market too, in the new language.
For print, yes. Each language edition is its own book to a retailer and needs its own ISBN for its barcode and its copyright page. You supply it when you create the edition, and Cantos puts it where it belongs. Your original edition keeps its own.
Two ways. Before you buy anything, Cantos translates the opening of your own book as a free watermarked sample, so you are judging your book and not a demo. And every edition arrives with a side-by-side bilingual review document, your paragraph beside its translation, so you or any reader you trust can check the whole book line by line.
Cantos reads the entire book before it translates a word of it, so an edition is not instant. You do not have to wait on the page: close the tab and the work carries on. Cantos emails you when the edition is ready.
